Maybe the plugin modifies search.php file of the theme and that file is customized in Neve, but the search itself uses the default search engine of WordPress, yes.

with the help (he did everything 😀 ) from the plugin author he found out that the plugin is working. But one question remains: Search results pages are showing full posts. I’d like them to show excerpts. How can I do that?
I think this should be a general question or option cause it´s not good to show full posts on the results. That doesn´t help at all if you´re looking for something.

I’m glad you resolved that issue.:)
If you set the excerpt for the posts in the blog page from Customize -> Layout -> Blog/Archive -> Excerpt Length it will be kept also for the search.

Isn´t it possible to seperate that? Perhaps with a small change in the code? That mekes no sense at all. 😀 How do you want to find what you searched for? I want the full posts on the startingpage but only on search results die excerpts. As mentioned: This is something that should be considered as an option.
