Remove Author and ‘by’

I am using your great plugin on a dev site that is not yet live, so I can’t provide a link.
I am using WP Show Posts in conjunction with your GeneratePress Theme.
I have left the “Author” box unchecked in the meta section but it still shows up after you click on “Read More” and it takes you to the full post.
In some posts, I get the word ‘by’ or ‘by and the name of the admin.
Is there a CSS work around to remove this?
I am working in Gutenberg and the option to remove the author is no longer available.
