  • Yes, it is possible to reinstall a previous version of WordPress. However, before doing so, it’s important to make a backup of your website, including your database and files, in case something goes wrong during the reinstallation process.

To reinstall a previous version of WordPress, you will need to do the following:

    1. Download the previous version of WordPress that you want to install from the official WordPress repository. You can find all previous versions of WordPress at https://wordpress.org/download/releases/.
    2. Deactivate all of your plugins, as they may not be compatible with the older version of WordPress.
    3. Use an FTP client to connect to your web server and navigate to the root directory of your WordPress installation.
    4. Rename the wp-admin and wp-includes directories to something like wp-admin-old and wp-includes-old.
    5. Upload the older version of WordPress that you downloaded earlier to your web server, overwriting the existing files.
    6. Login to your WordPress site to run the upgrade process. WordPress should automatically detect that you are running an older version and prompt you to update your database. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade process.
    7. Reactivate your plugins one by one and check your landing page to see if the issues with the images and spinning icon have been resolved.

If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself, you may want to consider hiring a professional to assist you with the reinstallation process.

If your dashboard is working, there are also plugins you can use to roll back automatically. Eg: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-downgrade/

That said, I would rather look into what’s causing the landing page to have “issues” under 6.1.1 and address the problem. Rolling back only postpones the inevitable.

    Good luck!

Thanks a lot for all your help on this, probably going to get someone who knows what they’re doing to have a look at it.
