Also, what happens when you set up a 12 month membership?
This is not the way it is set up. I just sold 2 yearly memberships this morning and the expiration date in July 18, 2014 (1 year from today)

Yeah, it doesn’t work like that by default. It sets the expiration 12 months (or whatever you set on the edit membership level screen) from checkout.
Sounds like you or someone else working on your site might have applied code like this: http://www.paidmembershipspro.com/2013/06/have-all-members-expire-on-a-set-date/

Hi,
No that wasnt the case. Additionally in the admin area the users that are signed up to the monthly membership show the expiration date as null (in the user list) but when you go into the membership details for the user it shows the 1st of jan 2014 as the expiration date.
The memberships are yearly renewals.
