The latest update will not install. I’ve had no problem with previous updates. I get error messages such as:

    could not copy file wp-statistics/languages/wp_statistics-bg-BG.mo

I tried to install it again, I get similar messages concerning errors in copying files.
I deleted my existing copy of WP Statistics entirely and tried to install the update version. This fails as well. I get the error the message:

destination folder already exists. /home/vol4_5/byethost4.com/etc etc

I have another site on byethost7.com which has had no problem updating to the new version of WP Statistics.

I have great regard for this plugin and hope someone may be able to sort out the problem I seem to have.
    Thanks in advance.

Can you check your plugins folder though SFTP or your hosting web interface and see if the folder exists?

Yes, the folder exists in htdocs/wp-content/plugins. Should I erase it?

    (@gregross)

    Yes, then try re-installing.

I erased the folder as recommended and tried to install again from scratch. Once again there’s an error message:

    Could not copy file. /home/vol4_5/byethost4.com/b4_9838509/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/wp-statistics/assets/jqvmap/maps/jquery.vmap.brazil.js

In case this is relevant, I’m also getting this error message from Sucuri on the WP Installing Plugin page.

Sucuri: (1459681596) Send_log: SSL connect error.

Once again, in trying to install from scratch I get the same error message as before:

    Unpacking the package…
    Installing the plugin…
    Destination folder already exists. /home/vol4_5/byethost4.com/b4_9838509/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/wp-statistics/
    Plugin install failed.

And, sure enough, the folder has been written to the plugins directory.

It sounds like the file permissions on your plugins folder is incorrect, it can create the folder but not write files in to it.

Contact your hosting provider and see if they can help get it setup correctly.

You could also try manually uploading the plugin.

Many thanks again for your suggestions. It’s an odd problem because I’ve had no other difficulty with previous updates – and, as I mentioned, I’ve had no problem with thus update on my other WordPress-based website on byethost7.com.
For manually uploading the plugin, where would I be able to get a copy of the zip?

Sorry! I just noticed where the DL is. I’ll see a manual installation does the trick.

It looks as if the manual installation has done the trick. The latest update is operating as it should. Many thanks again for your patience and sound advice.

No problem, I’d suggest keeping an eye on it when the next release comes out and if it fails again contact your host.

@bbandajoy please don’t add on to closed, unrelated threads. Instead open a new one for your issue.

When you do, please include which map you are using, Google or JCvMap.

    Thanks.
