pre causes problems

A site that I manage was migrated from joomla to wordpress using an automated tool.
The site consists of hundreds of pages, all starting with a PRE HTML tag.
This causes a problem with this theme, because it seems to strip the pre tag in its preview. See the following poem page:

these are not suppose to word-wrap as you see there.
Since the pre is ignored, the paragraphs word wrap now.
Is there any way to have the theme keep the pre code?
