Parse error: syntax error

    When I try to activate GDPR on my WP site, this is the error I’m getting.

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘, expecting ‘)’ in /home2/mlombard/public_html/melissalombard.com/wp-content/plugins/gdpr/admin/class-gdpr-telemetry.php on line 418

    I have no clue what that means and after reading the forum in search of an answer, I did update my PHP to 5.6 but I’m still getting the error.

    Any ideas?
