order numbers jumping

Hi! suddenly since two days ago my order numbers started jumping and lost sequence, it is still increasing in number but very erratically assigned.
if before it was 6112 6113 6114 6115…..now is 7843 7921 8567 8893 9568is anyone experiencing something like this? might this be related with last wordpress update? any ideas how to fix this?

Updating the WooCommerce version is always a good idea. But that has nothing to do with the order numbers.
First, it’s important to know why the numbers are out of order in the first place. WordPress saves everything as a post. So pages are posts, media files are posts, products are posts, orders are posts, and posts are posts. This makes it really easy for developers to interact with the database since everything uses a similar format. All of these posts (media, pages, posts, etc) use the same database table and because of that they can’t share the same ID. If you want to have a consecutive order number then you have to save a bit of extra data in the database.
The design pattern behind WooCommerce is to try to stay as lean as possible and give people the ability to extend or add onto the existing functionality. If you don’t need sequential order numbers then there’s no point in storing all of this extra information. WooCommerce leaves this up to store manager to decide if it’s necessary.
If having the order numbers in sequential order all the time is important for your shop, then there is already an excellent plugin, WooCommerce Sequential Order Numbers, by the SkyVerge team available for free:

but that is no the problem. the problem is that it was quite in order before now it jumps in hundreds so the question is if something is failing how can i detect whre the problem is because definitely i did not make 200 posts or changes between every order. so how did this got out of control? is there a place where i can check evrything that woocommerce is saving as posts?
