In an attempt to offset the multiple slow Wicked Folder Pro queries, I up-scaled my server today, doubling the hosting costs. Now running 48 GB memory and 12 vCPUs, and still, slow-loading admin pages with only minimal features enabled. I’m in the process of offloading all media to Cloudflare R2. There must be a way for Wicked Folders Pro to handle large sites without slowing down the WordPress Admin UI to a crawl.

    This is from /wp-admin/upload.php

Settings, these are the only active, checked items:
    – Folders /Media

    – Show number of items in each folder
    – Show unassigned items folder
    – Don’t reload page when navigating folders
    – Enable folder context menus

    – Dynamic Folders /Media

    Media:
    – Don’t reload page when navigating folders
    – Enable folder context menus

    Hi @centuryperf,

Thanks for reporting this issue and I’m sorry you’re having trouble.

Dynamic folders are generated on the fly and, for that reason, can be slow on large sites. They’re intended to be a helpful feature but aren’t required to use the plugin or organize items into folders. I believe if you disable the dynamic folders for media, that should resolve the slow queries you’re seeing.

I will look into a different way of loading the dynamic folders for better performance. In the meantime, please let me know if you still have trouble after disabling them.

    Hi @centuryperf,

Just checking in to see if disabling the dynamic folders solved this issue for you?

FYI, I’m working on modifying the plugin to lazy load the dynamic folders in order to improve the performance. This will be available in the next release of the plugin.

I’m closing this ticket since I haven’t heard back from you but, if you’re still having trouble, feel free to let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
