  • same problem here! Any updates on this error? Is it theme specific?

    Hi @eversmanwebdesign,

I experienced the same issue so, to eliminate it, I decided to limit the use of this plugin (i.e., translation widget) only on desktop and tablet devices. On mobile devices, this plugin does not work well (i.e., it’s difficult to customize and its responsiveness does not satisfy our requirements).

The question that must be asked before using this plugin on mobile devices is: “How many people from other countries or non-native language speakers visit our website using a mobile device?” Google Analytics can help you answer the question.

To see the changes I implemented, visit our website (on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices) then click on the Globe icon). Note: You will not see the Globe icon on mobile devices.

Hopefully, this will help you a bit.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

I have checked your menu system on the mobile version and I see that it uses an extra down arrow button: <button class="ast-menu-toggle" aria-expanded="false">...</button> which is responsible for opening the sub-menu elements.

The button arrow is not being generated for the languages, as it is a non standard way of opening sub-menu elements, which usually happens on hovering/clicking on the menu element. If you click on an element which has sub-menu items, it will do the navigation instead of opening a sub-menu, so there is an extra button for that purpose.

If I manually open the sub menu by setting display:block to sub-menu languages list, the translations work fine. So the problem is with opening the sub-menu elements.

You can try to create the menu elements manually in your menu system by using [gt-link ...] shortcode, instead of using Show in menu option. I believe in that case the extra button will be generated.

Alternatively you can try to consult with the AST menu support, I guess it is a part of your Astra theme. They can possibly add the extra button via js or avoid doing a navigation for the language selector element, so it can open the list on click. BTW you have enabled a lot of languages and even if you open it, it doesn’t fit and your menu system isn’t ready for long lists.

    Thanks! 🙂
