[Topic de-capitlised, please don’t shout at us]

Hi! I just logged into my WordPress page to find that a lot of modules are missing and the complete menu, including MEDIA and APPEARANCE do not show up. I am an admin and when I click on users, instead of all of them showing up, I can only access my account info.

The only options that I have in my menu are: Dashboard, Posts, Comments, Contact, User, Tools and Visual Composer.

We have had some SEO Spam and malware in the last couple of weeks but they have been eliminated and all site checks turn out clean when run at the moment.

I have never seen this before and would really appreciate any help on the subject as I need to make updates to the site and cannot so it’s quite urgent.

    THANK YOU!

It sounds like you may not be logging in as an admistrator. When you look at users, do you see only yourself or all users?

Hey @dent10109, it sounds like your user’s role/capabilities have been reduced or a plugin is being used to hide some items from view.

How technically inclined are you? Do you have a WordPress support team available? Does your host provide WordPress support?

Thanks for your quick reply @karpstrucking and @sterndata!

We cannot see any of the plugins and none of us admins have installed one that would hide features :/

That user IS an admin of the site but, either way, two additional users (also admins) have tried in different computers and different browsers and nothing. It is strange because the defaults, such as Media and Appearance, are missing too!

Unfortunately our hosting gives limited support on this issue 🙁

In that case I would recommend temporarily disabling all plugins via FTP to see if the missing admin menu items return. If so, re-enable each plugin one by one via FTP until the items disappear again to determine which plugin is the culprit.
