There appears to be a problem with mapping old site URLs to the new site.

    Consider this scenario:

    Old site: http://mydomain.com/somename/
    New site: http://mydomain.com/somename-dup/

In other words, the new site URL is the same as the old site URL, but possesses a simple prefix on the name (in this case, “-dup”).

After the mapping is done, all links involving the new site URL will look like this:

    http://mydomain.com/somename-dup-dup/some-post/

It would appear that a simple search-and-replace process is used to perform the URL remapping without regard to word boundaries or other critical characters that mark the end of a URL prefix.

This is an outstanding plugin. I hope this problem can be resolved soon.

  • Hey Jay,

Thanks for showing this example! If you can give the developer version a try it should have the updates for this issue. The very latest version (1.2.15) can be found by following these instructions:

    > Download Latest Version
    > Uninstall your current version and install this one.

Let me know if this solves your issue~

    Thanks

I just tried the new 1.2.15 developer version and found that it appears to solve the URL mapping problems presented in the above scenario. (That is, it seems to work for the test case previously mentioned, but we can’t vouch for other scenarios. You know, the usual disclaimers, etc.)

Ah, if only all plugin authors responded so quickly. 😉

I’m marking this problem as “Resolved”, but it really should probably be noted as “Resolved” only once the fixed version is released to the general public.

Thanks so much for your prompt repair of this bug!

Excellent! Thanks for helping to validate the fix Jay. We’ll try and have the patch out to the community within the week.

    Cheers~

This looks similar to my problem. version 1.2.10 works, version 1.2.14 doesn’t. Having reverted to 1.2.10 I can’t easily try 1.2.15 yet but will if I get an opportunity.

My specific example is that when http://jayscreative.com/ is copied to http://jayscreative.com/develop3/ some URLs (for instance in the wordpress main menu custom links) get mapped to http://jayscreative.com/develop3/develop3/develop3/…

Can you confirm that you expect this to be fixed in 1.2.15?

Duplicator is a fantastic plug-in and dragging package files to a subfolder in Filezilla (which is normally what I need to do) works very quickly. It is very reassuring to easily be able to test website changes on an exact copy before making them live, given the amount of php code we have.

    Hi Jeremy,

The latest version 1.2.16 should have these changes, updating the plugin and creating a new package should help solve the issue…

    Thanks
