Humans.txt Not Appearing

    Hey guys,

    I’ve installed the humans.txt plugin, and activated it. But when I go to the domain /humans.txt I get a 404 error. I’ve quintuply confirmed that the plugin is activated, and within the plugin, I’ve checked “Activate humans.txt file”. I’m not sure what else to do or what could cause this. My host is WPengine in case that makes a difference. Any leads? Thanks!

    Do you have Pretty Permalinks enabled?

    Hi Till,

    Thanks for your prompt response!

    Under Settings->Permalinks, I have the “Permalink Settings / Common Settings” set to “Post name.” But that’s it!

    Could that effect it?

    That setting is is fine. I’d email the WP Engine support, I know their system are quite customized.

    Hey there,

    Thanks for the follow-up and interest.

    Yeah, they say that it’s an issue with the plugin. But I think they’re wrong because I then went to install a plugin to edit the robots.txt file — and had the same problem! — so, it seems to me, WPengine seems to have some issue with these text files.

    Their recommendation to me was this: they said that using the shortcode that your plugin provides still works fine, so I should just create a page with a blank template that uses your shortcode.

    Hy I have the same problem on my server … this solved for me.

    location = /humans.txt {
	allow all;
	try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?$args;
}

    I hope this help you…
