Hi @erniecom, thanks for the detailed message on what you’ve tried so far.
I’d normally expect errors in the console if your details were incorrect, or there was a conflict of some kind. However, you’ve tested for that by reverting the theme and plugins.
If you’re not running a custom login page, as Wordfence’s reCAPTCHA and 2FA solutions only work for default WordPress and WooCommerce registration/login pages, then can you please send us a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.
NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email
Thanks,
Peter.
Thanks Peter. In the end the solution was that I discovered my wrong expectation.
The used ReCaptcha v3 is of type invisible (other plugins allow to choose type visible). As soon as I set the score threshold to 1 I got the Verification Required message, the only instantly visible feedback. When I searched the text it was related to ReCaptcha.
May be it helps users when in the api key / secret form you explain that you are using the invisible type. Better still, provide the option to enable the visible type.

Hi @erniecom,
To my knowledge with Wordfence’s login security, even though there are no tests or other user-interaction elements, the reCAPTCHA logo is normally shown on the bottom-right of the browser window on pages where it’s enabled rather than being entirely in invisible mode.
The Login Security > Settings page states:
eCAPTCHA v3 does not make users solve puzzles or click a checkbox like previous versions. The only visible part is the reCAPTCHA logo…
Thanks again,
Peter.
Yes, you are right. I simply didn’t notice. Thank you! Case closed.
