How to create a gallery post

I am trying to create a post like the first one shown in the demo titled “The design ethos of Naoto Fukasawa”:

I have tried setting the post as “gallery”, then putting a wordpress gallery on the page, but that didn’t work. Not sure what else to try as nothing obvious is standing out to me. Any help appreciated.
