• Although I’ve been building small websites in other ways for years, I’ve just come to WordPress as the Gutenberg age opens. And, as a newbie, I’ve found it somewhat bewildering. Coming in to use a new website construction system, it seems reasonable to expect that right off the bat, I’ll be able to start where every member of my web audience will start – at the top header on the home page. I assumed there’d be a block tool to easily insert a flush-top, page-wide header image replacing the text header title and allowing me to either include the menu items on top of my image or run them directly under it.

I’ve spent hours and hours over the last two days searching WP support as well as a sprawl of pages and videos across the web, trying to understand how to achieve this simple, essential task. How in WordPress theme 2019 running the latest Gutenberg do I insert a flush-top, page-wide header image and manipulate the way its title and menu items display?
