  • We are sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with the robots.txt and Google search console. We can assure you that downgrading from Yoast SEO Premium to Yoast SEO free won’t cause the issue that you’re currently experiencing here.

That said, we looked at the robots.txt on your site and can confirm that it’s blank. It has nothing that might block something on your site from being crawled.

On the other hand, all the URLs that you have shared with us are showing 403 forbidden error and that explains why Google Search Console is showing the relevant warning. The relevant pages aren’t crawlable, nor viewable publically for anyone. So, these shouldn’t be submitted to Google for being crawled.

So, you’ll need to set the relevant pages to noindex by using the Yoast SEO meta box. You can find the relevant guide here https://yoast.com/help/how-do-i-noindex-urls/.

In addition, you’ll need to force update the relevant page from Google Search Console. You can find the relevant guide here https://yoast.com/help/fetch-as-googlebot/.

Note: once you follow all the given steps, you’ll need to wait as Google Search Console won’t show the updated changes immediately for you. We are unable to confirm how long it might take for your site.

    Thanks
I’ve tried to follow your guide, not sure I’ve done it right, but will hope for the best
What about the alerts I’m receiving about the noindexed pages. Should I ignore that ?

If you have followed all the steps correctly, the relevant alerts will eventually disappear from Google Search Console.

I guess so and your thoughts on the noindex alerts please ?

As mentioned already, the noindex alerts that you’re seeing in Google Search Console for the relevant pages are due to the same 403 forbidden issue. So, once Google crawler stop crawling the relevant pages, the noindex alerts shall drop from the Google Search Console as well.

We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
