GIFs don’t display

HI, I have been trying to sort out this isse for a couple of days but no idea… what to do.

I have some gifs in my media library, and when I add them into a gallery, I press publish, one out of 5 gifs works only.

I tried to delete and upload the gifs which dont work again, but nothing happened.
Why my gifs dont show up with this template?

Hello: Here it is , I jsut published it:

They are both the same GIFs just different sizes. And the top ones works the bottom one doesn’t.

And the thing is, I used to use an other theme, which is called Stockholm. And when I published these GIFs, they worked. Since I switched to Illustrtr theme, they don’t work. So I believe there is no problem with my GIFs.

Can you send direct links to the files in your gallery that are not showing up? I see the crayola one, then I see two copies of “sustainable”. All of them display. The sustainable ones are not animated.

Are there supposed to be other gifs on this page? If so can you send links to them?

All the gifs are animated, just like the crayola one, but they dont work. I mean they show up but they dont move..

Hi there,

Any GIF that’s resized due to either the theme’s defined content_width or a setting in WordPress won’t animate due to how the resizing function works.

The first image at the URL below animates because it’s 1000px and isn’t being hard resized by WordPress. The others don’t work because they’ve been resized from 1080px to 1024px:

As an example, this original 1080px by 1080px image animates:
http://www.lindabakodi.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/sustainable-3.gif

But it doesn’t when it’s resized to 1024px by 1024px (note the dimensions at the end of the URL):
http://www.lindabakodi.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/sustainable-3-1024×1024.gif

To prevent this from occurring, please:
- navigate to Settings > Media in your dashboard
- change the Large Size from 1024px to 1100px to match theme’s portfolio content_width
- try uploading and inserting a new GIF to the portfolio that’s narrower than 1100px
Then check if the new image animates or is resized.

the gifs seem to animnate now, however the feature image still doesnt.

You’re welcome, glad I could help 🙂

Featured Images for posts and pages are 1100 wide by 500 high.
Featured Images for projects are 800 wide by unlimited high.

If you upload an image that has to be resized to those dimensions, it won’t be animated.
