Gallery plugin missing for contributors
-
I found that my contributors had access to “Pages” and were uploading items there that were going live direct to my site instead of posting via “Posts” where only I can publish their articles.
I went into Capabilities and removed their access to “Pages,” however it has also removed their ability to attach a NextGen gallery to their article or even upload a gallery to WordPress at all.
I have tried to reverse what I did, but can’t get it to work. Any ideas how I can enable them to access the gallery plugin and be able to attach them to their posts?

Thanks for using PublishPress Capabilities. Our plugin won’t create new permissions. It will just allow you to change NextGen provides.
The NextGen support team might be able to specific advice on what to do with their plugin.
I do see that are the permissions that NextGen provides:
- NextGEN Attach Interface
- NextGEN Change options
- NextGEN Change style
- NextGEN Edit album
- NextGEN Gallery overview
- NextGEN Manage gallery
- NextGEN Manage others gallery
- NextGEN Manage tags
- NextGEN Upload images
- NextGEN Use TinyMCE
I’ve selected all of those and it’s made no difference. I haven’t changed anything with the NextGEN plugin, I only changed the permissions for “Pages”.
It may be that the NextGen does use the capabilities for Pages. That would not be unusual at all for a plugin like NextGen.
The NextGen support team would be best placed to give specific advice on what to do with their plugin.
Our plugin does have a backup option if you need to rollback your settings: https://publishpress.com/knowledge-base/backup-restore-permissions/
