Hi @huislaw
Let’s try the plugin that Ad plugin author mentioned.
Hi guys
Just wanted to drop by as we were having the same problem and tried your advice but it seems to be working on some pages and not others.
See here for more:
Original issue – https://search.google.com/test/amp?utm_source=gws&utm_medium=onebox&utm_campaign=suit&id=nQO39i1JmCh4IvcGhtPjUA
When we deactivated the Ad Inserter plugin, deleted and then re-uploaded manually the version you suggested:
See here for result example – https://search.google.com/test/amp?utm_source=gws&utm_medium=onebox&utm_campaign=suit&id=mfDvbBLIyYjTMK_atn1yrw
But still not working on https://search.google.com/test/amp?utm_source=gws&utm_medium=onebox&utm_campaign=suit&id=ImmFrMnbwh45wl-ARDlD9g
Update 2:
I have tested this issue on a large number of articles. This ‘style amp custom’ error is happening roughly on 25% or new articles so is not allowing our AMP pages to be fully rendered or validated by Google.
It is an issue with the plugin which we suspect has been there for a while, as we noticed strange dips of AMP pages been submitted in search console by our web team over the last 5-6 weeks.
See here for more: https://search.google.com/test/amp?utm_source=gws&utm_medium=onebox&utm_campaign=suit&id=vGl1Lu6rDe7ri8p2pIg3Ug
Hello,
I’m the author of Ad Inserter plugin.
The problem should be fixed in the development version:
https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/ad-inserter.zip
You can simply uninstall the current version and install this one.
The settings will be preserved.
Before testing make sure all the caches are cleared.
There will be soon a new version released with this fix.
Conclusion:
Problem fixed after about 4 hours of testing – https://search.google.com/test/amp?utm_source=gws&utm_medium=onebox&utm_campaign=suit&id=FudMhmxrLVbisNgYz1RdAQ
It’s fixed on that page at least. What happened was the AMPforWP plugin did not gel with the Ad Inserter plugin. I’ve removed Ad Inserter plugin which seems to have fixed the issue and allow all of our pages to be validated in the AMP tester again.
PS – Thank you for the reply Ad Inserter author plugin but we tried your advice multiple times and also cleared the cache multiple times but after extensive testing, we still found that at least 25% our articles were not validating with the above problem.
Thanks anyway and all the best.
Hi @niall2012 @huislaw
It seems like the Ad Inserter plugin guys made few changes which made the site in-validated.
As @spacetime said that they have fixed it, so I am sure that errors will drop and things will be fine.
@niall2012 As for your concern about if both will gel well, I have already made a ticket for this, we will test that and if we find any issue, we will release an immediate update for the stability of our users.
and Thank you @spacetime for taking care of our users and taking care of the issue. You have gained my respect as a plugin author.
