Hello, I created backups with Free Updraft Plus due to issues a client was having with GoDaddy. We needed to restore data that was lost when our installation was reverted.

However, when I went to restore the backups, I discovered the database files have no tables in them at all. The data is not there. This is a big problem, as I was trusting this plugin…. There were no error messages pertaining to the backup process – it showed everything as successful.

Hi,

To help us work out the cause of your problem, can you please send us a copy of the restoration log?
You can find this log in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of your site via FTP.
You can send the log file and copy the contents into an online tool (such as http://pastebin.com/ )

I didn’t actually restore it because the file didn’t have any data to restore. I’ve copied the file contents to pastebin here https://pastebin.com/ReMuQTWd

I just did a fresh install on a development site, did a database backup and the file also has no content in it. Just the same data as above. How can this plugin be usable when it doesn’t actually back up the database?

OK, I found the answer here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/backup-of-the-database-fails/

The issue was Safari’s open safe files on download setting.
