Hi everyone, I just started to use self-hosting and tried to create a website. However the editor function was grayed out. I can’t edit, or add post. I can add categories though. How can I fix this and start using editor to design the website?

I already tried clear catche, deactive all plugins, check memory, and make debug as true (as suggested by Gemini), but none of them works.

Another question, can you share your insight/experience of using wordpress.org with self host vs using wordpress.com with managed host?

First of all, it would be interesting to see what exactly you mean. Can you provide a screenshot as described here? https://wordpress.org/support/forum-user-guide/block-editor/#adding-screenshots

Then take a look under Tools > Site Health to see if there are any anomalies listed there.

Thanks! Please see above. When I click editor or add post, the page is blank.

This could be a JavaScript error that is causing this view. This can be caused, for example, by plugins that are not working properly, but you have already ruled that out as the cause. Have you tried changing the theme? Which one are you currently using?

Then take a look under Tools > Site Health to see if there are any anomalies listed there.

Feedback on this would also be interesting.

And: try testing it in a different browser.

Thanks! I tried different browser as well – it didn’t work. I can’t manage to do anything about the theme either. I just checked the health status, it’s loading forever. Guess I need to find some professional to help me check the codes. Thanks for your help!

If Site Health also has this problem, it is probably a server-side error. Checking the error log may provide some insight. Your host’s support team can tell you where to find it.

Thank you for your help! I reached out to host and they helped me resolved it. Just FYI below is how they fixed it. (I had no idea what it meant, but it solved all issues.)

The Enable jQuery Migration Helper plugin has been installed.
