Edit Posts from Front End

Hi,
On a previous theme I was using on published Posts there was an Edit Post button for authors to be able to edit their submitted posts from the front end page without having to use the Edit Post option on the admin toolbar as I want to hide this.
I’ve tried adding <?php edit_post_link(__(‘{Quick Edit}’), ”); ?> into the single.php file and while the link then shows on the posts page, nothing happens when I click on it.
How do I enable this option for users to be able to edit their posts from the front end please?

Hey, troventrip, I’m not affiliated with Hestia, but I thought I might as well help out to add this functionality in case they do not plan to add it to the main theme.
I would recommend not editing the theme files directly, as the next time Hestia gets an update your changes will be overridden.
Instead, I would recommend using a plugin such as Code Snippets – https://wordpress.org/plugins/code-snippets/ – or adding the code to your functions.php file after making a child theme – https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/advanced-topics/child-themes/
Anyways, here is some example code that you can use to insert an edit link to your post:
