Display image associated with dropdown option

Is there a way to display an image when a dropdown option is selected by user when filling in the form?
to be more precise, I want the logo of a certificate to be displayed in users directory records; and that logo is selected from dropdown options when the user has signed up and is filling their profile info.

While it is not possible to use an image tag as a value in a dropdown, you could use some custom code to change the value display to an image. Take a look at the pdb-before_display_form_element filter, you can use that to change the display value of your field.
