Default Variation Deselected and Shown as “Out of Stock” After WooCommerce 9.6.0 Update

After updating to WooCommerce 9.6.0, products with variations are showing the default variation as deselected and the product displayed as “out of stock.”

    Problem Summary:

    • Started happening after updating to WooCommerce 9.6.0 (about 2 days ago).
    • Happening on all products with variations.
    • Manually selecting a variation allows purchase.

    Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

    • Checked changelog and forums → Found no similar issues.
    • Checked wc_logger → No errors related to variation, default, or stock.
    • Found a WcPayWelcomePage::has_incentive() related error in fatal-errors (Tried disabling Site Kit by Google to resolve, but the issue persists, it is now activated).
    • Currently investigating potential plugin conflicts.

    Environment:

    • WooCommerce: 9.6.0
    • WordPress: 6.7.1
    • PHP: 8.1.29
    • Theme: Education-related theme (using Tutor LMS)

Any suggestions on other possible causes or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Hi there!

I understand that the default variation is being deselected and shown as “Out of Stock” after updating WooCommerce to the latest version.

I tried to replicate this issue on my test site but was unable to reproduce it. You can confirm this by accessing my test site at the following URL:
    https://shahzeen-testing.mystagingwebsite.com/sample-page/tshirts/v-neck-t-shirt/

It seems like there might be a specific setting or plugin on your site causing this issue. Since you mentioned that you are investigating potential plugin conflicts, could you confirm if you have completed the conflict test? Were you able to identify the plugin causing the issue?

If you haven’t completed the plugin conflict test yet, please create a staging site and deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce. Then, check if the issue is resolved. For more details, you can follow this guide:
    How to Test for Conflicts

If the issue persists even after deactivating all plugins, Please share URL of the produch for which you are facing the issue and could you please provide a copy of your site’s System Status report? Here’s how to do it:

    1. Go to WooCommerce > Status.
    2. Select Get system report, then click Download for support (scroll down to find the option).
    3. Upload the downloaded report to this chat.

You can use Pastebin to share the System Status Report (SSR) and delete it later if needed. This information will help us investigate the issue further.

    Thank you
