When I started with my blog 6 months ago I experimented with few logos and deleted them after I decided on the current one. Unfortunately those 8 pages still show up in my Google Search Console as “Submitted URL has crawl issue” These 8 links are nothing but old versions of my logo which I overwrote with my current logo.

In my Google search Console I see 2 sitemaps
A sitemap to my posts and pages and
    An image sitemap ( https://financialfreedomcountdown.com/image-sitemap-1.xml )

The 8 pages are part of the XML Image Sitemap generated by Jetpack. https://financialfreedomcountdown.com/ffc_logo/ is an example of one of the 8 URLS
When I use the URL Inspection tool I get the message “URL is not on Google: Indexing errors”. Page fetch Failed: Crawl anomaly. It gives me a message that the URL is “blocked by robots.txt”

When I use the robots.txt Tester tool and type the exact URL it says allowed.

This is so confusing now because on one had it seems that robots.txt is blocking but when I test it I dont see it being blocked and when I open the URL I can also access the 8 pages in question.

Ideally i would like to find a way to delete these 8 URLs from my Image sitemap or have the Image sitemap REGENERATED so they are not a part of it. Any ideas?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

For a start, I’ve scheduled a full sync for your site. Let’s give that 24 hours to complete. Let us know if the site map still shows those deleted images after that.

I do notice you’ve disabled all other SEO features of Jetpack, and you appear to be using Yoast SEO instead. Is there a particular reason why you’re using Jetpack’s sitemaps, and aren’t just letting Yoast generate those for you instead? Personally it would make more sense to me to have all your SEO features handled by the same plugin.

Thank you kokkieh. I did not realize jetpack had SEO features and since I had already used Yoast I just continued with it. You are right that I could use Yoast sitemap instead of WordPress.

If I submit the Yoast sitemap will Google, Bing use the new Yoast sitemaps or would they get confused with the older Jetpack sitemap? Or do I need to do something special to delete the old sitemap from the search engines?

Just make sure that you add Yoast’s sitemap index URL and remove Jetpack’s in Google and Bing.

They’re two different URLs, so they shouldn’t get confused. πŸ™‚

I am still using Jetpack sitemap at the moment and have not switched. It still shows the deleted image and also shows another https://financialfreedomcountdown.com/plutus-awards-showcase-featured/ URL as error which is not deleted

Oh, I thought you said you had switched to Yoast?

Are you still using the Yoast SEO plugin? If so, our Sitemap will not run, as the two would conflict.

I am using the Yoast plugin for SEO but not for sitemap. I have disabled the Yoast sitemap since Jetpack sitemap has been submitted to Google.

Ok, we don’t have a way to know what Yoast features are enabled. As long as the Yoast SEO plugin is active, we will not run our sitemap or any of our other SEO features.

If you are already using Yoast SEO, it is recommend that you use Yoast SEO’s sitemap.

I used Yoast sitemap and it worked fine.

    Thank you
