I sometimes copy GS blocks (eg Accordion) and paste them on other posts or pages. I do this with the code editor. I can see that each block is given an ID and the ID stays the same on all the posts.

How to make sure the ID is unique after paste?

If I create a style to target the block in one post, it will affect all posts with the same blocks– because they all have the same ID.

  • i have the same problem.
Much worse is that changes in a copied block are also applied to the original block because they have the same ID

Hi. If you copy one block and put it on another page – ID will remain. If you duplicate one block on the same page, ID will be changed.

    Thanks for the information @wpsoul

Is there a way to duplicate a block so we can use it on another page AND use a unique ID? It is really difficult if we reuse on a website with many pages.

    Thank you

Duplicate block, then copy duplicated block – will do the trick

    just so I understand correctly.

the duplicate still has the same ID as the original and if I create a copy of the duplicate, does this block have a new ID? or already the duplicate?

When you click on duplicate on the same page, ID will be new, then you copy duplicated block to another page

However, we have instance feature for local and global templates and classes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhwRm6is3z8
