    Good evening,

I’m having an issue with the CookieYes WordPress Plugin Only mode.

I’ve got a Google Analytics script being hooked into the WordPress head through Astra’s Site Builder tool.

I have setup 2 GA analytics cookies, both with the site domain name, duration, and script: google-analytics.com|googletagmanager.com/gtag/js
    – _ga_*
    – _ga

When you load the page, the scripts aren’t being blocked (the two cookies are showing in Console > Application > Cookies), and even if I reject consent & refresh the page they’re still showing as being tracked.

If I connect the site to CookieYes Web app, then the GA scripts & cookies are correctly blocked and work with the consent options. And so I’m struggling to understand why when I’m using the WordPress Plugin Only mode, with cookies within CookieYes copies the exact same from the web app, that the GA scripts & cookies are failing to be blocked.

I’ve tried putting the Google Analytics scripts into the function.php, in case it was some strange bug between the way Astra hooks the script, but that doesn’t work either.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Joe,

The issue you’re facing with Google Analytics scripts not being blocked while using the WordPress Plugin Only mode may be due to the plugin’s limited auto-blocking capabilities compared to when it’s connected to the CookieYes web app.

In Plugin Only mode (without connecting to the web app), you need to manually update the Google Analytics cookies in the Cookie Manager section of the plugin by specifying the correct script URL patterns so that they can be blocked appropriately.

On the other hand, when the plugin is connected to the CookieYes web app, these scripts and cookies are automatically detected and managed based on the site scan results.

Please verify whether the necessary cookies and script patterns are correctly added to the plugin’s cookie list. That should resolve the issue with the scripts not being blocked.
