A new “Comments” addon has just been released yesterday and should solve your case. The addon is turned off by default, after switching it on, you can enable and disable a bunch of tags and attributes. The raw comment is saved inside the database but the content is filtered with “wp_kses” on the frontend so that should be secure enough. 👌
