Despite working previously, when I go to the atec plugin page via the admin, it shows the object and page cache are inactive. This is after previously working fine. Here’s the error messages:

atec Cache APCu: Another „object-cache.php“ file exists. Please deactivate it first.
atec Cache APCu: Another „advanced-cache.php“ already exists - please deactivate it first.

    The other error message says:

The cache settings are inconsistent (OC is not active).
Please save again to auto-fix it.

I save again, and it still gives me the first two error messages. I’ve tried disabling the plugin, reinstalling it, but nothing works. The only other caching plugin I use is WP Rocket, which doesn’t have a page or object cache (at least I’m unaware of any).

My hosting company installs the Endurance page cache, but I keep it disabled. I’m at a complete loss as to what to do.

Also, when I flush the APCu object cache under the APCu tab, when I come back to it, it’s filled up again with items. It’s like nothing is working. I’d attach screenshots but for whatever reason I can’t.

    Hello,

WP Rocket has a page cache but you can only have one page cache at a time.

Please check /wp-content folder and look for advanced-cache.php.
View the file and check the header – is it a WP Rocket file?

As for the object-cache, please update the plugin.
I have fixed the issue with old object-cache.php.

Let me know how it works.

    Hi there,

I checked the advanced-cache.php file and it’s indeed by wp rocket. Should I only use the atec Object Cache and leave the Page Cache off? I’ve updated the plugin and was able to turn on the Object cache. Thanks for the help.

    Well done.
If you prefer WP Rocket Page Cache.
Leave it off in atec-cache-apcu and only use the object-cache.

    Pls update to v2.3.13.

How would I shut off the page cache in WP Rocket? That’s why I didn’t think Rocket had one as there’s no indication where the settings are. And when I did speed tests, it said to install a page and object cache even though I was using WP Rocket (this was before installing atec). Thanks again for being so helpful.

I have no WP Rocket available here.
To disable PC pls refer to their support.
What do you use WP Rocket for anyway?

    What server are you running?

As far as i remember PC is the default when you activate WP Rocket.

Depending on you server setup you might not need WP Rocket.
    Are you running woocommerce?

If you have OC enabled pls run health check again to see whether WP still requires OC.
    it should not.

I’m on a Bluehost shared server (I know, they suck). Should I just disable WP Rocket and use atec exclusively? I’m trying to keep the overhead as low as possible (including not using superfluous plugins). As noted in a previous comment, the server has a built-in Endurance cache that I’ve disabled (WP Rocket didn’t like it).

    Difficult to say without details.

For smaller sites many plugins add a lot of overhead that is not required.
If you run WooCommerce WP Rocket might help.

Otherwise I would just give it a try and disable it temp., enable atec PC and check the performance.

APCu is the fastest storage so you might even see some improvement.

Thanks. I disabled Rocket. Not running Woocommerce. Basic news blog. So far I haven’t noticed a slowdown. Slight increase in speed. How often should I flush the OC and PC? Is it necessary to?

PS: I’m not sure if this is normal, but when I click on the Page Cache tab showing cached pages and posts, it’s blank. I have it turned on, so not sure if that’s normal. Cheers.

There are several features in PC to flush automatically.
It might fail in complex situations and require manual flush but in a typical install it is not required.

I’m not sure if this is normal, but when I click on the Page Cache tab to see cached pages and posts, it’s blank. It says it’s on, so I’m not sure if that’s normal. Below are some screenshots. The APCu tab is completely filled while the Page Cache tab is blank.

    Can you send domain name?

Also do you know how to enable WP_DEBUG and send me any errors, or use atec-support from atecplugins.com ?

    Thread Starter Boston Tom

    (@tneveu)

When I try to download the atec support plugin, I get this page-not-found error message in German:

Oops! Diese Seite wurde nicht gefunden.
Unter dieser Adresse wurde nichts gefunden. Möglicherweise hilft eine Suche weiter?

I’m not clear on using wp_debug or where it outputs the information. I do know you can turn it by modifying the wp_config.php file. How do I PM you? I believe that was an option in an earlier comment.

I’ve downloaded and installed the support plugin. It gave me two choices once activated: Send via email and Copy to clipboard. I’ve pasted the clipboard here (domain removed for privacy):

    {“code”:”invalid_term”,”error”:”Empty Term.”,”line”:””,”file”:””},
    {“code”:”unclosed_buffer”,”error”:”There is an unclosed buffer”,”line”:””,”file”:””},
