    For a new project, I downloaded and installed the newest version. Almost everything seems fine. However, when I edit any page or post (logged in as admin or other), all of the boxes below the edit area are missing: revisions, excerpt, trackbacks, custom fields, discussion, comments, author.

    My other installs (currently 4.5.7) all have these sections, it is just this one with version 4.7.3. I have scoured every setting in hopes that I simply missed something, but at this point I am convinced it is a bug. I can, of course, install a previous version, but the whole point of this new project was to play with the “twenty-seventeen” theme, which will not work with my previous version.

    Can anyone confirm that this is actually a bug, or preferably point out what silly thing I missed that is causing my problem.

    Hi @rhaithe,

    Did you try to click “Screen Options” in your editor? In here you can setting which elements shown in your editor. It is on the top right of your editor screen. 🙂

    Have a happy day. 🙂

    Best Regards,

    Yes, I clicked “Screen Options”. Briefly, a blue highlight flashed around the tab. But, nothing else happened. I believe this is normal behavior, as it does not do anything on my other installations either. You are probably referring the the screen listing either pages or posts, where “screen options” allows you to select which columns are displayed for each page/post.

    Here is a screenshot showing which screen I’m at:

    I’m referring to the area in the lower central area, below the editing area. Notice that all sections are missing.

    I neglected to state:

    1. This is a new, unmodified install of v4.7.3
    2. I am using an unmodified version of the “Twenty Seventeen” theme (although the problem persists in numerous other themes).
    3. There are no plugins installed. Being a new project, there never have been any installed.
    4. I have not modified .htaccess in any way.

    If anyone else is having the same problem with this version, please let me know. If anyone has v4.7.3 installed and does NOT have this problem, I would like to hear about that as well. It may help determine whether it is a bug or a problem with my install.

    Thank you.

    * Fixed *

    I deleted the entire installation, installed v4.7.2 (instead of v4.7.3), and uploaded the wp-config.php file. Now, on the EDIT POST or EDIT PAGE pages, when I click on the SCREEN OPTIONS tab, I have the option to enable the sections below the editing area. Previously, clicking this tab did nothing.

    I’m definitely calling this a bug with v4.7.3. I hope it is fixed quickly in the next release!
