I solved the issue of generating code by going to my Facebook page settings >>> Messaging >>> Add Messanger to your website.
Following the Get Started process to generate the code in Facebook instead of trying to generate the code through the WordPress admin dashboard.
Copying the code to my website header using Insert headers and footers plugin.
Hope this helps someone else.

There’s no need to copy-and-paste any code into your site’s markup. It will be added automatically by the WordPress plugin!

@facebook, There is no more method than the method I stated above.
From my Facebook page settings, I went through the setup and used the code to deploy manually to my site since the plugin is not doing it for me.

Thanks @alid15. If you’d like to use the WordPress plugin, you’ll need to remove the code you added manually to your site, activate the plugin, and go through the setup process. This will automatically deploy the code to your site.
As this is support forum is focussed on the WordPress plugin specifically, we can’t really advise on installations where the code was added manually (i.e. outside of the plugin).

Had the same issue,
installed via plugin, seems no code is generted.
chat doesnt work.
