Wonderware ActiveFactory, developed by Invensys, is a suite of client tools for exploring, trending, and reporting on real-time and historical process data stored in the Wonderware Historian (formerly IndustrialSQL Server). It gives operators, engineers, and analysts an easy way to build interactive trends, run ad hoc queries, and create repeatable reports—most notably through a Microsoft Excel add-in—without hand-coding SQL. Users can drag and drop tags, overlay multiple pens, zoom and compare time periods, and apply common aggregations such as averages, minimum/maximum, totals, standard deviation, and time-weighted values. ActiveFactory integrates with Wonderware InTouch and other Windows applications via ActiveX controls, supports on-demand and scheduled reporting, and respects historian security and user permissions. Typical uses include troubleshooting process upsets, monitoring performance KPIs, and producing compliance or production reports across manufacturing and infrastructure operations. While later succeeded by Wonderware Historian Client, ActiveFactory is recognized for its straightforward, engineer-friendly analysis capabilities.
