In the quiet of hospice, stillness envelops,
A bare cake stand, a symbol of absence,
I brought a coffee cake, warm as a hug,
To soothe the ache, to soften the heavy air.
On Christmas morning, a moment of hope,
Attempting to fill emptiness with sweetness,
For those burdened by sorrow’s weight,
I offer this small slice of shared solidarity.
As smiles emerge from the depths of memory,
Let the remnants of joy pierce the shadows,
Though we must part, love remains,
In the silence, we find connection once more.
