Japan aid: bid for a fic from me

I'm taking part in the fandomaid campaign to aid the people affected by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

I'm offering a fanfic at least 1,000 words long to the highest bidder. Find my offer here.

SOS: New Zealand earthquake

Some of you know that I'm a Kiwi. Even though I've been away from New Zealand many years, the recent earthquake in Christchurch hits home for me. Thankfully my loved ones were not directly affected by the quake, but I have strong links to the city. My father was born and grew up there, my inlaws likewise. My parents met there, at university.

I want to do something to help, in however tiny a way. I won't offer to auction off rights to a story as I have little time and I seem to have lost whatever ability I had to write. But I did write a little earthquake into one of my fics, so I offer that up for you to read or re-read. It's in chapter 9 of SOS: geekfiction; ff.net.

If you feel moved to make a donation to help the earthquake victims, I suggest the Red Cross: NZ Red Cross - links there to Australian and British sites. There isn't a US Red Cross fund for the quake, but donations made here will be used for other disaster relief so it's all good. There's also the American New Zealand Association. Or you can donate to the RC or equivalent in your country, or whatever organization you consider worthy.

Thank you for your time.

- the person(s) who nominated my fics for the CSI ff awards and thus enabled me to display this fabulous banner.

And, of course, congratulations to all the nominees!
- LiT for organizing the awards :)
- everyone in the CSI fandom who has ever encouraged or in any way supported my attempts over the years at writing fic. I'll never be a writer, but it's been very rewarding and a lot of fun. Special mention to Alison, Cheryl and Jenn for being such great betas when I was wise enough to ask for help.

Thank you all!

Christmas is Calling

Now, if I were internet music savvy, I would do this differently, but I think this will work ...

A lovely Christmas song you've probably not heard: Christmas is Calling.
From Roch Voisine's L'Album de Noel. He has a gorgeous voice. Yes, most of the songs are in French, but many will sound familiar.

I'm no poet and I know it
