I was born into the greatest generation of all time, the 70's and 80's. This intro, which I wrote for a community I created (and then gave to someone else, because I wanted it to be a place to talk about EVERYTHING, not just the 80's...no one seemed to get that concept. oh well.), sums up people of my generation and to an extent, myself as well.
We grew up watching Snuffleupagus, Captain Kangaroo, and The Great Space Coaster...We graduated to Buck Rogers, Dukes of Hazard, or Little House on the Prairie...We met some Bosom Buddies, became the Greatest American Hero, learned about the Facts of Life. We made some Family Ties and found a place where Everybody Knows Our Name. In the midst of it all...MTV was born.
We are the Atari Generation, born into video games, music videos, computers and the Internet - Yet we still remember AM radio, vinyl records, rollerskates, and when fans of Madonna wore black jelly bracelets, not red Kabbalah strings (and she sounded like she was from the US).
We cling to our past while taking part in all the latest trends and gadgets technology has to offer.
We can be just as interested in a documentary on the Discovery Channel as we are in reruns of Family Guy.
Our mp3 playlist contains our old 80's favorites and tunes we listened to in college, right along with the latest bands on the scene - Neil Diamond and Arctic Monkeys; living in harmony...
We are connected at broadband speed, using one of our handful of email addresses to engage the age old debate of pirates vs. ninjas and - we are totally blogging this.
We have responsible careers, or are slackers waiting for a dream job...
We live at home, on our own, or are married with children...
We are comfortably numb, depressed and medicated, or living every day like its our last...
We know how to engage in a flame war, or have an intelligent debate. We are not afraid to stand up for our ideals and disagree with the establishment, but we can also be apathetic if we choose.
We are adults, but we have not and probably will not - Grow Up.
