Roadmap

wfview is maintained by volunteer fellow radio-enthusiasts just like yourself. This roadmap is not so much a plan as it is a list of things we’d like to do with wfview. You can follow our progress by looking at the commits on github. Be sure to check each active branch as we don’t often commit changes directly to the master branch.

Next Major Release (v3):

  • More flexible user interface elements
  • Enhanced TCI support
  • Native USB Audio redirect
  • Additional radio controls (always adding)
  • Dedicated server exe for windows (linux only currently)
  • Raspberry Pi AppImage

Wild Futuristic Ideas:

  • Allstar (IAX2 but maybe SIP?) connection for repeater linking and/or remote rig control
  • Server to server “re-server”, allowing codecs to change and escaping of closed networks
  • Flex Radio, SunSDR support
  • Pi-based Tactile controller with touch screen running wfview a la Flex Maestro
  • Version for tablets (Android and iOS)
  • Web portal for web-based access
  • Support for SDR tapping on older radios
  • Raspberry Pi SD-card image for dedicated servers, complete with automatic rig detection and setup.
  • Integrated digital voice and/or digital text modes
  • rigctld-compatible “follow” mode to other program

How you can help:

  • Bug reports from you! Including log files with debugging enabled. The more the better.
  • Testing!
  • Send radios :-). If you send us a radio, we will work quite hard to get it supported and of course send it back.
