Production waste from wood processing does not necessarily incur high disposal costs. On the contrary, waste wood has enormous potential for energy recovery. A British furniture manufacturer, which produces large quantities of wood waste every day from offcuts, rejects, and various processing operations, recognized this opportunity.
Instead of disposing of the material at great expense, the company opted for a sustainable approach: shredding the waste wood into usable wood chips, which are then used as fuel for biomass heating.
The NFK-Recycling project brings research and industry together: In collaboration with Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and TU Dresden, WEIMA helps develop a sustainable recycling process for natural fiber-reinforced plastics. Innovative shredding technology paves the way for a biological recycling approach and a truly circular economy.
