Websense Endpoint by Websense, Inc. is a lightweight security agent that extends enterprise web and data protection to laptops and desktops, both on and off the corporate network. It enforces acceptable use and data loss prevention (DLP) policies in real time, helping organizations reduce risk, protect intellectual property, and meet compliance requirements.
Installed as a background service, the agent provides web filtering and threat protection for traffic generated by browsers and applications, including categorization and policy-based control of HTTP/HTTPS destinations. Its DLP capabilities monitor and control sensitive data in use, in motion, and at rest, with coverage for channels such as web uploads, email, cloud apps, removable media, printing, clipboard, and screen capture. Additional features commonly include device control for USB and other peripherals, endpoint discovery scans for sensitive data, tamper resistance, cached policies for offline enforcement, and centralized logging and management via the organization’s security console.
Designed for large-scale deployment across Windows and macOS endpoints, Websense Endpoint delivers consistent, policy-driven protection to roaming users without requiring a VPN, providing clear user feedback and detailed incident reporting to support security operations.
