WeAreD11 Student Contest Overview
The WeAreD11 Student Contest is a district-wide campaign celebrating the creativity, pride,
and spirit of students across Colorado Springs School District 11 (“D11”). The contest
encourages students to submit short, original videos highlighting what makes their D11
experience meaningful—whether through the arts, athletics, leadership, clubs, academics,
or community connection. Selected submissions may be showcased as part of the broader
WeAreD11 campaign.
To participate, entries must be submitted through WeAreD11.org. Students must submit in teams of three (3) or four (4), include a team name, and use a valid D11 student email address for submission.
Once a video is submitted, the D11 Engagement Team will verify that all team members are currently enrolled D11 students. After eligibility is confirmed, submissions will be reviewed by D11 and WeUsThem (“WUT”) to ensure the content is appropriate, relevant, and aligned with contest guidelines prior to publication on WeAreD11.org.
Parents, guardians, or teachers may submit on behalf of student teams if students do not have access to a device; however, all submissions—regardless of who submits—will be subject to the same verification and review process.
Eligibility and Participation
Participation is open to all students currently enrolled in Colorado Springs School District 11.
Each team may submit one (1) video, with a length of 15–30 seconds. Students may
participate on more than one team. Students under the age of 18 must have parent or
guardian consent to participate. Students with parents or guardians employed by D11 are
eligible.
To qualify, teams must consist of three (3) or four (4) students from the same school, use a team name that does not contain profanity or inappropriate language as determined by D11, and showcase an authentic aspect of their D11 experience.
Judging and Engagement
Each verified submission will be published on WeAreD11.org. Winners will be determined
based on engagement metrics such as likes, comments, and shares, reflecting genuine
community interest. D11 reserves the right to review engagement activity for authenticity and
to disqualify submissions associated with artificial, automated, or manipulated engagement.
Three (3) student teams with the highest engagement will receive prizes listed below. One (1) additional student team may be selected at the discretion of the Superintendent based on criteria reflecting D11 pride and school spirit.
Prizes
Student team prizes include a Meta Quest VR Headset or $300 USD cash per team member.
School-level awards will be given to the top three (3) schools with the highest participation
rate. Each winning school will receive a $5,000 award to be used for school-wide purposes.
Content and Conduct Requirements
All submissions must comply with D11 policies, safety standards, and codes of conduct.
Submissions may not include bullying, harassment, discrimination, profanity, inappropriate
language or attire, references to drugs, alcohol, or violence, or unsafe, illegal, or graphic
content.
Submissions must use only original content or royalty-free music and media. Videos containing copyrighted material without appropriate rights may be disqualified. D11 reserves sole discretion to disqualify submissions that violate these requirements.
Verification and Notification
All submissions will be reviewed by the D11 Engagement Team to confirm eligibility and
compliance. Participants will be notified via their D11 student email regarding acceptance,
rejection, or prize selection.
Accessibility and Inclusion
D11 is committed to equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Participation is open to all eligible
students regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, or ability.
Official Terms and Conditions
Participation is free and voluntary and does not require a purchase. This contest is not a
lottery or gambling activity. D11 reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the contest
at any time. The contest is not sponsored or endorsed by any social media platform. All
prizes and selections are subject to applicable public-sector laws and District policies.
Cash prizes awarded to students under the age of 18 will be issued to a parent or legal guardian in accordance with District financial procedures. Participation is voluntary, and only directory information and student-submitted content will be used, consistent with FERPA and District policy.
By submitting, participants (and parents or guardians where applicable) grant D11 a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, edit, and distribute submissions for educational, promotional, and informational purposes. All eligibility and winner decisions made by D11 are final.
