Inspiring walking routes in London & South East
Welcome to the Walking Post, a home for inspiring walking route ideas in Surrey, Kent, London and further afield, we have over 80 routes online including 7 long distance trails. We love to walk around the capital and to take the train out of London and into the countryside. There are so many beautiful places less than an hour by train away from the city. And so many footpaths to discover whether urban or rural. All routes are linked to transport options to make them accessible to all.
How To Use The Walks
Our walks are available to use and follow on the OS maps app. You can also download the maps via GPX files for Ordnance Survey, Strava, Apple & Garmin watches among others. You can also follow the written directions if you’d prefer or just take a route idea and adapt it to suit yourself. We’ve grouped the walks into themes and counties but there are no rules about taking any of the walks in a particular season or for a particular purpose.
About Us
We’re Lucy and Emily, walking buddies who are creative route planners and go on hikes from London most weekends with a group of friends and volunteers, and also lead open walks for all, usually monthly. The Walking Post is a compilation of our favourite walking routes in London and the South East, along with general inspiration for your next ramble via our blog. All the walking routes unless stated otherwise are created and tested by us.
If you like our walks please leave us a review.
