A virtual modem is a software solution that replaces a pair of hardware modems with a virtual modem. It allows two modem communication applications to interact over the local network or the Internet without having to dial a phone number. Say goodbye to unstable phone connections, busy lines, call costs, or any hardware devices. This program completely replaces hardware solutions.

1. Add virtual modem

Virtual modems have completely replaced physical modems on both local and remote ends. On the local end, it creates a virtual modem device that appears in the operating system as the same device as a regular hardware modem. The main difference is that the virtual modem "dials" the remote IP address through the LAN or Internet, rather than connecting to the remote end through the actual telephone call like the physical modem.

At the remote end, another virtual modem detects the incoming network connection and simulates an "incoming call" for the monitoring modem application to use. Therefore, applications can now be connected through TCP/IP based virtual modem connections.
