SKILLAB

Monitoring The Demand And Supply Of Skills In The European Labour Market

Project Description

The SKILLAB project aims at developing a holistic skills management and shortage identification platform that will monitor the demand of European organisations and entities for specific skillsets, the supply of skills by job-seekers and potential employees along with European policies on the subject and will propose targeted strategies, curiculla development, policies and job advancement suggestions. Highlighting the importance of workforce upskilling and vocational training by generating policies for hiring bodies, offering suggestions for improvement on existing European initiatives and providing a reliable skills forecasting and monitoring observatory

At the core of the proposed framework lies the leveraging of Artificial Intelligence technologies that will harness high-volumes of labour market, organisational and European taxonomies and initiatives data and will reduce the labour gaps and shortages on a regional, sectoral and geographical level. SKILLAB is the joint effort of 10 partners from 6 European countries. Contributing to the enhancement of the European Labour market and the Pact for Skills by delivering a hub targeted towards educational paths for upskilling and reskilling, HR strategies and guidelines for optimal candidate recruitment, recommendations for policymakers on skills shortages and mismatches and the identification of emerging skills and roles.

ViLabs Contribution

We lead the Pilot Case 1 of the SKILLAB project.

The ViLabs pilot is positioned towards a more societal-oriented goal, thus the baseline can be outlined on studying how (and at what level) Greece and Cyprus follow a systematic approach to the identification of labour market needs and how they put forward strategies to promote skills for the effective uptake of such needs. Skills anticipation is centered on the pilot’s scope which renders the background research focused on the labour market analytics and intelligence systems from a more niche point of view, that is of Greece and Cyprus.

What is more, the VIL pilot envisions to work on analysing the socio-economic impact brought by the SKILLAB platform and its solutions to the labour and educational policies through the more efficient use of evidence for decision-making. Hence, the pilot case presents an added value for policy and decision makers at national (and even EU) level, as it will bridge the potential gap(s) between skills demand and supply by enabling the labour market stakeholders to engage with evidence-based insights and make informed decisions.
