Our chiefs and fleet manager are in Florida right now for the final inspection of our new engine for Station 56.
This brand-new Pierce fire engine is the twin to our unit for station 55 and is built with modern safety and performance features to serve the Vashon community for the next 25 years.

Spring is here! While you’re out there tackling the garage, closets, and that one drawer we all pretend doesn’t exist… take 2 minutes and check your address sign.
If it’s faded, dirty, hidden by plants, or basically invisible at night, it’s time for a quick fix. First responders rely on clear, visible address numbers to find you fast when seconds matter.
👉 Give your sign a good wipe down
👉 Trim anything blocking it
👉 Or replace it if it’s seen better days
Need a new one? Order here: vifr.org/address-signs/
It’s a small thing that makes a big difference when it counts. … See MoreSee Less

We’re aware of reports circulating about a mass casualty incident on the island today.
This was a planned, staff-only training exercise for our firefighters focused on mass casualty response. It took place at O Space and was not open to the public, which is why it wasn’t originally broadly publicized.
Unfortunately, some information from the training was overheard and shared, which understandably caused concern. We want to reassure everyone that this was only a drill, there is no active incident and no danger to the community.
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate your understanding as we continue training to provide the highest level of service to our community. … See MoreSee Less

Another Safe Sitter class in the books! 👏
We’ve added 6 newly certified Safe Sitters to the island, ready to help with childcare, support families, and confidently handle real-life situations with younger kids.
This class is more than babysitting, it’s about building skills, confidence, and responsibility, whether that’s caring for siblings, helping as a parent helper, or starting out as a babysitter.
We always have a blast spending the day with Vashon’s future babysitters, and this group was no exception!
📅 Next class: April 25
