18th April’18 – Letter ‘P’

The word I choose for the letter ‘P’ is Pollyanna.

The quote I choose to go with the word Pollyanna is- “What is wrong in being a Pollyanna”.

For those who wish to know the meaning of the word Pollyanna, it means an excessively cheerful or optimistic person. I have used this word in one of my poems so I decided to choose this word. However, while I was surfing for quotes on this word, I got to know about two new things related to this word.
1) There is a movie called Pollyanna and,
2)I came across a game called “Glad Game” or also called as “The Pollyanna Play 30 Day Challenge”.

The rule of this game or challenge is very simple; you have to post one thing that makes you happy each day for 30 days. So that you can make another person smile, inspire or motivate and spread joy. That is actually a wonderful thought. Spreading positivity, happiness, inspire, motivating, or even just to be the reason behind making someone smile that day.

Holding on to this thought, let me share something what I do every day. I take a bus/an auto/ a cab to travel from home to office and back from office to home. I make sure I give them a smile and thank them. In case I buy something from a shop/store, I usually smile and thank the sales-executives/cashiers who helped. I currently work as a sales-executive and I meet and interact with customers on daily basis.

If the customer is rude by treating me like shit because I am a sales-executive, who according to them, is lower than them on the socio-economic strata, I am less than them, and feel they can get away with treating me like scum. Still I smile at them, not because it is my job, just coz I am a sales-executive does not mean I have to carry a smile on my face but I still choose to smile. Coz they do not know who really I am. They can go on and continue being snobbish arseholes, yet I will remain to be a Pollyanna. Coz you may not believe but I believe in spreading happiness.
