1. Understand “Search Everywhere” Optimization

There was a time when SEO had the same meaning as ranking in Google. But time has changed; SEO no longer means just Google. While Google handles billions of searches, it represents only about 27% of total search activity. Yes, you heard that right. The other 73% occurs on platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and Amazon.

You must optimize for the platform where your customer makes decisions. This is “Search Everywhere Optimization.” Don’t get fooled by people selling tips and tricks to rank high. The scenario is no longer the same.

How Platforms Work

Each platform has a different “decision code.” You cannot copy and paste the same content everywhere.

  • TikTok: Needs fast, visual, and emotional content.
  • YouTube: Requires depth and expertise for learners.
  • Amazon: Driven by social proof and reviews.
  • Reddit: Demands raw authenticity and zero marketing fluff.
  • ChatGPT: Seeks facts and clear citations from trusted sources.

The RICE Framework

Do not try to be everywhere. Use this framework to pick your best platforms:

  • R (Reach): How many people search there?
  • I (Impact): Will it actually bring you sales?
  • C (Confidence): Can you realistically succeed there?
  • E (Ease): Is it simple for you to produce content for it?

2. Master Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)

GEO is the art of ranking in AI tools like ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews (AIO). Most GEO is just high-quality traditional SEO, but you must structure content for machine readability. The reason behind this is that humans and AI both consume data differently. You may write a post that people love, but it’s of no benefit if the user can’t see it. Since the introduction of AI in search, you don’t have to check ten blue links and find it. AI will do that if you structure data accordingly.

3. The backlink game is not the same anymore.

Back in the days, ranking for a Query in Google was quite simple. Write a detailed article, build backlinks, and you’re there. We all did this and succeeded for the most part. In 2026, the scene is different. Yes, backlinks help, but not like as they used to. You will need backlinks, but from reputable sources.

 4. Format Content for AI

AI models prefer data that is easy to parse:

  • Use Tables: AI loves structured data. It can quote specific cells from your tables.
  • Use Bullet Points: Lists allow bots to read your points verbatim.
  • Direct Answers: Answer questions immediately in the first sentence of a heading. Do not bury the lead.
  • Semantic Richness: Use related terms and concepts to build a “semantic web” around your topic.

5. Be “User Obsessed,” Not “Algorithm Obsessed.”

The biggest issue, even though Google has been saying this for years, people don’t understand it. All the marketing gurus and so-called experts will show you the tips and tricks. But you don’t have to fall for those. SEO was and is here to help people find the right data. But the issue is that people started misusing it.

AI can write faster than you, but it cannot understand humans better than you. To beat the bots, focus on the searcher’s true intent. Ask:

  • Is the user a total beginner?
  • Do they need a checklist or a video?
  • Why exactly do they want this information?

If you solve the user’s specific problem, you build trust. Trust is what converts a visitor into a customer. Once you understand it, you will understand the game.

 6. Build Authority and “Validation”

In the past, SEO was about visibility. Now, it is about validation. AI summarizes information based on who is mentioned most across the web. You need others to talk about you.

How to Get Validated

  • Brand Mentions: Aim for mentions in Reddit threads, podcasts, and “best of” lists.
  • Co-Citation: When AI sees your brand mentioned alongside market leaders, it learns to trust you.
  • E-E-A-T: Prove your Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness through personal stories and real case studies.

7. Technical SEO is Critical for AI

Robots cannot read your site if you lock the door. AI crawlers must have easy access.

  • Check Robots.txt: Do not block bots from OpenAI or Bing. Since ChatGPT Search uses Bing’s index, ranking on Bing is now mandatory.
  • Use Schema Markup: This code tells robots exactly what your content is. Use the “Organization” and “Article” schema to define your brand and posts.
  • Use Raw HTML: AI primarily reads raw HTML. Avoid hiding important text inside complex JavaScript or images.

Conclusion

The secret to SEO in 2026 is simple: Build a real, trusted brand. Diversify your traffic sources beyond Google. Create content that helps humans, but structure it in a way that robots can also understand. If you build authority, you will win the age of AI. To sum up, you should pivot from search engine optimization to search everywhere optimization.
