My Go-Tos

I’m a voracious reader, especially when it comes to local economies, social entrepreneurship, systems change and transformational leadership. I am energized by leaders and organizations who are doing good and find the following inspiring and informative.

Vicki is a badass ... she pays attention to your needs and delivers accordingly.

Common Future: (formerly BALLE): I earned my chops  in the local economy movement with the good people at BALLE, now Common Future.  Check out all they offer for fellowships, community leaders, and more.

Nonprofit Sector

Nonprofit Quarterly: Not only have I been published in NPQ, but I also love reading it!

Nonprofit AF: Author Vu Le says what all of us are thinking and includes actionable steps for real change – all with hilarious delivery.

Leadership and Personal Growth

Rules of Thumb, by Alan Webber: My go-to book for business leadership inspiration, over and over again. Alan Webber, founder of Fast Company magazine,  has become a friend over the years, and the Mayor of Santa Fe, New Mexico! I was honored to be appointed to a committee for job creation under Alan’s Mayoral leadership.

The War of Art, by Steven Pressfield: I don’t care what job you have, what creative project you do, what career you chose, we all face resistance and this book will move you to master it and yourself.
