Ahead: branding the power of seeing inside your body

Through a 30-minute full-body MRI and advanced blood testing, Ahead gives people the clearest possible picture of their health, and the tools to do something about it. But what sets Ahead apart isn’t just the science. It’s the mindset: you are not passive in your wellbeing. You can act now. You can own your health.

Vicine was brought in at the very start to help tell that story. Through naming, an in-depth brand strategy phase, followed by identity and brand system, we formed a partnership with our client to bring to life the bold vision at the heart of the company, the first of its kind in Europe.

Ahead is a new kind of health company. Through a 30-minute full-body MRI and advanced blood testing, it gives people the clearest possible picture of their health, and the tools to do something about it. But what sets Ahead apart isn’t just the science. It’s the mindset: you are not passive in your wellbeing. You can act now. You can own your health.

Vicine was brought in at the very start to help tell that story, with a name, identity, and system that matched the confidence and care at the heart of Ahead’s mission.

Three things we learned, 
and brought to life with our brand work

1. Empowerment begins with clarity
Out of a long list of candidates, the name Ahead was selected to embody the product’s promise: helping people stay one step ahead when it comes to their health. Visually, we built on that idea by integrating a forward-and-up-facing arrow into the logotype, replacing the “a.” It’s not just a letter or symbol, it’s an optimistic and proactive mindset, symbolizing the power of agency.

2. "Revealing" is at the heart of the product, and the brand
Ahead’s MRI scans bring hidden, hard-to-get information to light. This is a key point, and we wanted it to be central to the brand. Therefore, we developed a visual theme: the reveal window. Built from the rounded corner of the logo for continuity, it becomes a literal window that reveals portraits, data, or textures, moving from blurred to focused, from unknown to known. It’s a direct visual metaphor for the product experience.

3. A flexible system fuels clarity and impact at scale
To support Ahead’s rapid growth, we designed a modular identity system that could flex across physical, digital, and data-rich environments. From an expressive color palette to smart typographic and layout rules, the system allows the brand to communicate consistently, whether it’s guiding someone through a scan or explaining a biomarker result. By designing everything from the website's MVP version to the results dashbord, from signage to assets for print, we could test the brand system's flexibility first hand, and ensure that it was effective across formats and media.
