Ventoy is an open-source tool by ventoy for creating multi-boot USB drives with minimal effort. Install Ventoy to a USB drive once, then simply copy ISO, WIM, IMG, VHD/VHDX, or EFI files onto it and boot them directly—no extraction and no need to reformat each time you add or update an image.

It supports both Legacy BIOS and UEFI systems, including Secure Boot, and works with a wide range of operating systems and utilities (Windows, Linux distributions, WinPE, rescue tools, and more). Ventoy also offers optional persistence for select Linux distributions, a flexible plugin system for custom menus and automation, and the ability to update Ventoy itself without touching your stored images. It runs on Windows and Linux and can be installed on USB sticks, external drives, SSDs, and SD cards.

Key features:

  • True multiboot: copy multiple images and choose at startup
  • Works with ISO/WIM/IMG/VHD/VHDX/EFI files directly (no extraction)
  • BIOS and UEFI compatibility, with Secure Boot support
  • Broad image compatibility across operating systems and utilities
  • Optional persistent storage for supported Linux distributions
  • Plugin-based customization (themes, passwords, auto-install, file injection)
  • Fast updates without reformatting or losing files
  • Supports common filesystems and large image files
  • Free and open source
