Establishment of the Library Board
The powers, responsibilities and affairs of the Board of Trustees are enabled by the Charter granted by the New York State Board of Regents, December 18, 1953, and are derived from the Education Law and related laws of the State of New York, and the rules and regulations of the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and its agencies.
Members of the Library Board are appointed by the Mayor of the Inc. Village of Valley Stream for five-year terms, commencing on April 1.
Trustee By-Laws
The Library Board of Trustees established its By-laws in 1969 and has revised it periodically. The current By-laws were approved and adopted in 2019. Click here to download a copy.
